American Capital is one of the fastest growing publicly traded alternative asset managers in the U.S., so much so that the company moved from two floors to eight in a matter of two years. 77,000 s.f. of newly constructed Class ‘A’ commercial space has now become their permanent New York home. The fit out of the interiors is a representation of the firm’s commitment to quality and excellence.

With extraordinary skyline views and full height perimeter glazing, CONANT ARCHITECTS challenge was to maximize daylight penetration and views from all areas of the floors. In addition, the client requested a vertical circulation exclusively for their floors, and a seamless integration of technology into their work and conferencing spaces.

The view is enhanced with a 2,000 s.f. landscaped terrace overlooking the park and city skyline. Running through the top floors of the building is a new four story interconnecting staircase. Daylighting in the interior is maximized with the use of full height glass and figured maple office fronts while custom built maple workstations enhance the open office areas which receive direct views to the city skyline. State of the art videoconferencing and automated presentation systems were built into the conferencing areas. American Capital has continued its strong growth and proudly showcases its New York location.
