New York, N YLeron, a luxury linen shop around for three generations on the Upper East side of Manhattan decided to move their store from a classical brick building to a more contemporary building just a few blocks away. Not looking at this as a disadvantage CONANT ARCHITECTS revealed how a contemporary space could be transformed into a traditional home like environment.
By utilizing an existing java colored wood floor and limiting the amount of partitions, the available funds were designated for high-gloss, finely detailed custom millwork. Trim moldings at the ceiling and throughout the space brought a traditional feel throughout.
A soft palette of finishes and colors were selected so that the different styles and lines could be shown during any season. Elegant silver leaf desks with a box frame glass tops are utilized to display smaller linen products and work as a transaction top. Modern items such as computers are hidden in the millwork at the same location so that each transaction area serves a multi-purpose function.
